September

September always brings a renewed energy with it. The days start to get shorter, the evenings are cooler and it feels like you have a second chance to start something new with a fresh and relaxed mind. September it’s the month for planning the rest of the year, thinking about Christmas, deciding which new tv shows to watch, having a wardrobe makeover and a house spring-clean. And it’s the month when you start to slow down again after the hustle and bustle of the summer months.

35/52

Oh this week! Not much and a lot has happened at the same time. The summer is not quite over yet (yeah!) and we are enjoying our family time in the garden and at the playground.

This week you:

  • Said ‘Mama noooo!’ during lunch time just because I wasn’t eating with you and papa. But the fact is that we laughed so much that you now keep repeating it everytime I don’t do something with you.
  • Finally said the word ‘nonno’ and made your grandpas very very happy!
  • Got another canine cutting through.
  • Had a cough for a couple of days. And were crying in your sleep at night every time you had to cough. But refused to take anything to make it better.
  • Learned to drink from a glass. And you almost seemed a proper grown up until you started dipping your fingers in it!
  • Shedded big proper tears of sadness at the end of one of Musti‘s episode when the turtle starts waving goodbye. I did try to explain to you that the turtle was going to come back, but it didn’t make a difference and I had to hug and comfort you.
  • Loved your new tiny kitchen we got from our local charity shop. It does need some TLC but you didn’t even notice.

From last week got to love Matilda’s shiny red shoes from Little Beds. And glad to know it’s not just my little lady who’s obsessed with red shoes!

Summer skies // Italian holiday // Part 1

Skies // Calabria //Italy
Lots of summer skies from our holiday in southern Italy. Most of the above were taken from the terrazza of my parents house. They live in an apartment on the 4th floor of a building very close to the beach and the view is amazing. You can see the entire Gulf of Squillace, and on a clear day you can easily spot the farthest southern end. I will never have enough of this view and it is one of the things I miss the most.

The House Garden

Just finished this House Garden illustration inspired by one of my mum’s kitchen towel from her dowry. I decided to use Arches hot pressed paper, and although is not my favourite brand, I think it was perfect for this subject. And I’m already planning to make some more on a similar style.
The original painting will be up on sale on my Esty shop sometime this weekend.
Happy weekend to all!

34/52

It’s week 34 and we are back to normality again! September is in the air, it’s getting chilly in the early mornings and evenings, and the days are visibly shrinking. But the memory of the past holidays is slowly fading away, it feels like it’s time to plan our next one already!
this is you trying to escape carrying a toothbrush and toothpaste

This week you:

  • Returned to your daily routine with no effort, after two weeks of “no rules”!
  • Started saying “cla-cla” when asking for acqua (water).
  • Started saying ‘Oh no!” with a funny voice everytime you dropped something on the floor.
  • Had two of the canines out, only 6 teeth to go and we are done.
  • Learned to do a fake smile, and it’s funnier than your authentic (and beautiful) smile!
From last week loved this underwater face from the bostrom blog, and the so many beautiful pictures.
