30 Days of Lists // September 2013 // Lists 11-20

And here we are with the next 10 lists for this September. I feel like playing catch up everyday, as my little miss has discovered my yellow box where I keep all my stickers, stamps, washi, scraps, etc which I’m using for this month’s #30lists. And she is utterly obsessed with all of them. Having said so, I have to wait after she goes to bed in the evening to finish off each list and this is causing some delays in taking pictures, posting, etc. I’m planning to get her her own box, with her own supplies so she can play her own #30lists without disrupting mine.
Here are lists 11 to 20.

30 Days of Lists // September 2013 // Lists 1-10

After playing catch up for these first 10 lists, I’m now back on track and enjoying the daily prompts of this month’s 30 days of lists. After much debate on how to make my lists nicer (and not just simple bullet point lists), I went for a bit of everything, die cuts, stickers, some coloured notes, collages and whatever I felt it was appropriate for each specific list.  I also tried different ways of taking pictures for each list, but at the end fell in love with the natural light I can only manage to get outdoor. The flowers and grenery in the background is from our front garden, it’s still quite in bloom and love that extra bit of colour added to the picture.

Here is what my first 10 lists look like.

On listing // 30 Days of Lists

After the wonderful experience I had in participating at 30 days of lists back in March this year, I didn’t have any hesitation when I received a pre-event registration email from Amy and Kam to sign up again this September.
I love making lists, I make a list for everything; it helps me to free up a bit of space in my brain and not to wake up at night afraid I will forget all the things I want have to do.
My favourite and most used bullet point is a simple black circle, but from time to time I like to experiment with something else, be it a star, a dash, an arrow, you name it.

My favourite paper used to be a simple coloured post-it note that I could stick anywhere and then throw away after each item was crossed off. But a few months ago I designed a number of small to-do-list notebooks which have now become my favourite place for listing tasks, grocery lists, etc. And I’m loving it. And I’m planning to keep them all stored in a box. As I got carried away with making notebooks, I listed some of them on my Etsy shop for fellow listers to buy. Please have a look here.
For this September’s round of 30 Days of Lists I decided to create a similar version of my March notebook (here), to keep everything consistent for this year.

Again I used an A6 eco seawhite sketchbook and embellished with a letterpressed front cover, some washi tape and die-cuts. Plus whatever will come to my mind as I go along this month’s challenges. And I’ve chosen the colour green again.

During the past edition of 30 lists I was publishing a list a day here on the blog. For this current edition, I will be combining the lists in 3 posts throughout the month, each with 10 lists. Daily lists will be published on Instagram (here to follow) with the hashtag #30lists and on flickr (hereto follow) under the 30daysoflistsgroup.

#30lists // wrap up

So this is it! This project seemed a bit daunting at first, and instead it went by very quickly. I found out about “30 days of lists” via Twitter, one week before the start date. I wasn’t really sure what this project was about, or what to expect from it, or if I was getting myself into something difficult to keep up with. But I was very much intrigued. I remember reading somewhere that some people were doing this challenge but at their own pace, so I thought worst case scenario, I will complete it whenever I can. Still wasn’t 100% convinced. Then I did pay a visit to my local art store that afternoon and while browsing around I found a simple A6 notebook…perfect size, perfect number of pages, perfect price (95p+20%off!), not too intimidating to be filled in with 30 lists. And so I was sold. I signed up for “30 days of lists” that very evening and got access to the private blog. In there I found lots of tips on how to make these lists, some printables, a forum, and all the basic info about this project; and most of all, the list of the 30 prompts was ready to be downloaded in advance! I must admit, the thought of working on a daily prompt was making me a bit nervous, mostly because I wasn’t sure how much time was required to do each list. Having the list of the lists in advance was somehow reassuring. I spent the week before the start date to get the notebook ready. I did a bit of planning on how the notebook should look like, then printed out the daily prompts, prepared the numbers, stuck some washi tape, tried to letterpress the front cover. Now I was ready to go; one list a day for 30 days! Some of the lists were easy to write, some others required more thoughts and inspiration from other fellow listers, but it was such fun. Sharing my lists on the blog, instagram and flickr was fun too, but more time consuming than anticipated. I did try to do it once every day as soon as the list was ready, but had to play catch up a few times!
To be honest, having the notebook all set up was the key to easily keep up with this project and to enjoy it. It did feel a bit like cheating, but I couldn’t have done it otherwise. So very glad I joined in, and will look forward to next one.

The last of #30lists // 30. Mini-manifesto

I don’t have many words to add to this last day of listing, if not that I’m missing this project already. It has been a great project to join and surely I will be looking forward to the next one. My mini-manifesto will be my starting point for what will come next and I’ll make sure to have it displayed somewhere in my working area.
I still have two blank pages left at the end of my notebook, I’m thinking of adding some pictures or more thoughts on this project before wrapping it all up. And maybe a wrap-up post to go with it.
In case you can’t read my handwriting…

30. Mini-manifesto
  • Be true to yourself
  • Smile
  • Work hard
  • Enjoy the everyday
  • Dream big
  • Don’t be afraid of changes
